22 Aug Do Not Fear Or Be Dismayed
Life can sure get us dismayed at times. But yet the Word of God in the Bible tells us not to be dismayed. How can that be? How does that work? Dismay means the loss of courage because of fear of what is about to happen, utter disheartenment, disillusionment or agitation of mind. Things can get heavy in our minds, we’ve all been there. So, if we are putting our trust in the Lord, why do we get dismayed? Why do we at times spend hours wasting the day because we are dismayed?
That is exactly what the devil wants us to do, waste our day so we don’t serve the Lord. Remember, he is the thief, and wants to steal our time by tempting us to think stupid, unfounded, UN-biblical thoughts. It is about time we stand up and take charge of our thought life so we can get on with serving and worshiping the Lord God Almighty.
The Lord told Joshua in 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
You see, we were created for a purpose, a special purpose to serve the Lord by doing His Word in our life. When we loose sight of that, we get discouraged, even wanting to give up at times. That would be easy prey for the enemy to mess up our life even more. Please consider these words from the Bible that tells us to submit to God:
James 4:6-8 KJV
- 6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
- 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
We are talking about getting dismayed here, but there are many devices the enemy uses against us. We have so many emotions, don’t we. Why don’t we counteract these negative emotions with the truth in God’s Word.
John 8:32 KJV And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Free from what? Free from being dismayed, discouraged and fearful.
Now that’s Good News
First, make sure to settle the question of where you are going when you die. You may want to say a prayer from your heart something like this:Dear God, I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and shed His precious blood for me. I want to turn from my sin and invite Jesus to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior.
God bless you. Find a Christian friend to help you find a good church, read and study the Bible (KJV), talk to God every day, be baptized, and tell others about Christ and what happened to you. What a journey you will be on and know this, you will get through the hard times in life much easier with Jesus by your side.
Also, knowing who we are in Christ will knock the enemy down. There is a great list of truthful affirmations to study and remember on the Freedom In Christ site:
A few examples are:
- I am walking by faith and not by sight. 11 Corinthians 5:7
- I am complete in Christ. Colossians 2:10
- I am showing forth the praise of God. Psalms 51:15
