22 Jan Who Is A Prayer Warrior
“And I sought for a man among them that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it but I found none.” Ezekiel 22: 30.
A prayer warrior is an intercessor who stand in the gap as it were, for others in prayers. He carries the burden of interceding for others or for situations until change comes. The key factor here is persistence.
He would travail in prayers, fasting and deny himself of so many other pleasure to see that things change to what he want to see or how God want a thing to be. “Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.” James 5: 17, 18.
Apostle Paul was an example of a prayer warrior worthy of emulation. “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you.” Galatians 4:19. He prayed for his converts to be established in Christ and he also encouraged his “disciples” to stand in the gap for the body of Christ.
“Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.” Colossians 4: 12.
You could take it upon yourself to stand in the gap for a brother or sister who is sick, not saved, backsliding or not yet established in Christ.
Also, you could be a prayer warrior praying for the furtherance of the gospel in all nations; for the persecuted or for ministers of the gospel in your local church or in all nations of the world.
“Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me.” Romans 15: 30.
The opportunity to pray for others is a rare privilege and honor. When you stand in the gap for others in prayers others would be compelled by the Holy Spirit to pray for you as well. “The liberal soul shall be made rich: and he that waters shall be watered also himself.” Proverbs 11: 25.
The mentality of a warrior is that of a winner. If you must prevail in your prayers, inculcate the winner mentality. Determine not to stop praying until you prevail or get the answer you desire. The word of God says “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4: 7.
Note that the time for change differs between situations or people. You could pray for a soul to get born again for a year and for another soul to get converted for ten years. You do not get discouraged or angry at any particular time and stop praying.
In fact the more you pray, the more you would see so many undesirable traits but that should not deter you. It only means you are making impact and in due time you would get the desire results if you faint not. Galatians 6: 9.
